Compliance & conduct

Compliance connects registration, licensing, and professional conduct so that construction services are delivered safely, ethically, and within the law.

Certificate & licence

Construction services require a valid certificate of registration and (where applicable) a licence.

Certificate validity

Certificates remain valid for 12 months and should be displayed prominently where required.

Public sector exemptions

Public officers and corporate employees may be exempt from licensing in specific circumstances.

Professional conduct

Maintaining public confidence requires consistent professional standards. SCRPC expects registered professionals to practise competently, communicate honestly, and comply with applicable laws and council guidance.

Your responsibilities

  • Display your certificate and licence (where required) prominently.
  • Renew on time and keep your professional details up to date.
  • Maintain professional conduct and comply with SCRPC standards.
  • Hold appropriate insurance/indemnity coverage where applicable.
  • Cooperate with investigations, audits, and disciplinary procedures.
  • Use the public register to verify professionals before engagement.
